Ulster Strength in Depth to be Tested.
Ulster coach Matt Williams looks set to field what is essentially a strong Ulster A team come Friday.
With, English giants, Bath first up at Ravenhill this coming Friday it seams that Williams will rest all those involved in summer tours with Ireland and Ireland A, with the exception of Tom Court and Darren Cave, a selection restriction obviously dictated by the Ireland Management Team.
It is good to see fellow summer tourists Rob Dewey (Scotland) and Carlo Del Fava (Italy) under no such “cotton wool” conditions, but having said that Carlo did get 10 minutes rest against World Champions, South Africa.
New boys O’Donoghue, Diack, Willis, Nagussa and Schifcofske will be given a run out as will Academy stars Ian Whitten, Chris Cochrane and Willie Fallon. It looks as though Thomas Anderson is going to be given every chance to stake a claim for a regular spot if he turns in a few good performances in the friendlies.
Trimble, Humphreys and Steinmetz are not considered due to injuries - lets hope they are recovering well.
This is the end of the honeymoon period for coach Matt Williams so lets hope the players can start with a win because lets face it who wants to see Googy (aka Justin Harrison) lord it after the match!
