Action Cancer
The Front Row Union are pleased to announce our association with Action Cancer.
Over the next year we’ll be helping with fundraising events and publicising activities. Our first Action Cancer event will be our Annual Awards Night on Saturday 6th July 2009 were we’ll be making donations to Action Cancer on behalf of our major prize winners.
Action Cancer need to raise £3.6 million a year to keep our services going and all money raised stays in Northern Ireland.
Action Cancer rely very heavily on donations from the public and business communities.
Action Cancer screen women aged 40-49 and 65+ for breast cancer in Action Cancer House and on the Big Bus.
Action Cancer currently screen 1100 women a month and roughly 7 of these will be a cancer diagnoses – this service is saving lives.
Action Cancer carry out men’s MOT health checks on the Big Bus which include analysis of lung capacity, blood pressure, skin analysis, cholesterol and BMI. They also provide information on preventing cancer and how to detect cancers, particularly prostate and testicular.
Action Cancer counselling, complementary therapy and a Listening Ear Service to those with cancer and those closely affected by cancer (carers, close friends and relatives).
